70 E Targa Project in WY

    No affiliation:

Seller says engine is matching numbers, and all the parts are there give or take a bolt or two. Too far away for me to be serious about.

Looks like it's that eccentric from Sheridan, Wyoming... AKA alekzandr and telefunkenu47 on Pelican.

His name on his email is "jon alekzandr", if that helps folks know who he is. I remember a year or two ago a guy in Sheridan, WY posted on craigslist that he had a barn full of Porsches. I emailed him then and got no response. It seems likely that this is the same guy, although he did not respond to that question in my email to him.

I've met this guy several times at the Steamboat vintage event over the years. He was a nice guy and a decent driver. He drove a green SWB if memory serves. I work as a traveling salesman in the ski industry and get through Sheridan 2 or 3 times a year; after telling him this, he invited me to get in touch and visit his shop. I never got the chance. But from people I know in Sheridan, he is/was for real and had lots of Porsches. That's all I can offer to the board on this guy. He certainly did not seem eccentric or off the wall in any way when I knew him. Just another avid Porsche fan. Best, SS ESR#2

Listing has been removed. If he is Telefunkenu47 or any of the other ID's, the issue is not whether he has a collection, but rather will he sell any of it! That has been the bone of contention with this seller. Those who have met him attest to his friendliness and sincerity, but I have yet to hear of anyone who has successfully bought one of his cars. It may have happened, I just have heard only about failed transactions. My personal experience was to respond to an ad when it first appeared, only to have him respond that the car had sold "almost immediately." The same car showed up on another site about two months later, offered by the same seller. Yes, the sale could have fallen apart, but with the sellers history, I didn't follow up.

My further communication with jon alekzandr of Sheridan Wyoming necessitates that I ask anyone thinking of attempting to buy a car from this man to PM me first for details of my further communication with him.
