Thread: fender to cowl seal. Where to get the NONE rubber seal?

fender to cowl seal. Where to get the NONE rubber seal?

I believe that these days the fender to cowl seal (901.503.394/395.22) is made off rubber. On my 66 however it seems to be something like canvas.

Since it's the seems that this was first time that the fender went of my car I tend to believe that this seal is correct. Can some one confirm? Does any one have a supplier for these seals? If not what I am supposed to get to replica it?

    Thanks.

    Richard

That is correct. I don't think you can buy them. Can you make a pattern? I'm looking for the material to make them.

    seal

You may be correct and it may be origional. However I owned those cars when they were new, and I dissambled several wrecks in 1968, 1969 and I was sure they are the plastic type stuff, flat and then they spread at the top to cover the fender and the cowl?

In later 66, they changed from the fabric type, to the black vinyl.

    Rick,

You are correct. Mine left side is in a beater condition and is made of vinyl. My car was manufactured in May of 66.

When did they change to the rubber seals?

Not sure, but there was a 65/66 thread going about other split year changes, but I don't think it touched on the cowl seals.

You guys are a better judge of this than me, but are these seals visible? If not, why use a water absorbent material even though it's a factory-equivalent part? Seems like the fender-to-cowl area is an ideal location to grow rust. Why not use something more water tight/resistant/proof?

They are the black strips up by the windschield on each side of the car. Haven't you ever seen a 911? Every car from 1964 has had two, or were you funnen us?
