Should pressure fed tensioners be put in early 911s

I think that a lot of people prefer the later Turbo style sealed tensioners with the improved, bushed tensioner sprocket lever over the Carrera type pressure fed tensioners, because they look original. How many people on this forum would rather see the original look preserved on an early 911? I think that the pressure fed update is only possible on the 68 and later cars, by the way.

I think that Carrera tensioners are the way to go except in extremely special cases (see Bert's low-mileage green car).

Three words - PIECE OF MIND.

I prefer the turbo tensioner upgrade with safety collars installed as insurance. My Jade Green car has this set up and I intend to do it again, when I rebuild the engine on my Tangerine Orange car.

Marco and Tony did a great job on my (Jade Green) engine to upgrade the tensioners and fix a few leaks. Now everything works as it should and the engine doesn't leak. The car drives great and it looks good too.

Now I have to pay attention to the orange car. It's feeling left out

    Thanks,

On early cars the unique features, look, is important and the new arms with 'Turbo' tensioners is real safe so that is the way to go. Now with that in mind I still prefer oil pressure fed tensioners as the ultimate, form of chain tension safety, pease of mind.
Solid tensiners were always an after market part and were never offerd as an option by the factory, I belive, and so did the factory, soild tensioners have to many negatives that did not make up for any advantage. With soild tensioners the chains are always tensoned poorly, and changing all the time the engine expains and contracts from heat. best case senaro you just have loose chains with poor cam timing, worst you have to tight chains that are putting unnessary ware on parts, and that can happeon all in the same run.
