Thread: SWB side trim measurements

    SWB side trim measurements

I bought some skinny side trim to replace the wide L or S '68 only aluminum trims on my '68 normal's rockers.

In looking at pictures of other SWB cars, I think I may be able to eyeball it pretty close, but can anyone provide some basic measurements to help me install my trim?

    Thanks!

I'll do it on my stock '67 N and give precise measurements tonight, westcoast time.

    Trimmers,

Here is a pic of my '67 with 25mm wide side trim. From the back edge opening of the front fender the distance to the metal trim (not the rubber profile which projects a little further) is 117.6mm. The distance at the back to the beginning of the torsion bar cover opening is 11.4mm. Hope that helps.

Thanks Allen. I hate to be persnickety here, but do you have the vertical measurement also, meaning, from the door sill to where the metal trim sits?

My rocker has been "in the dark" under that wide L trim for a long time, it will be happy to be more scantily clad. The wide aluminum trim just doesn't look right on a SWB.

After I get this trim installed, all my trim on both bumpers and the rockers will be the skinny stuff.

    Thanks!!

Lay a straight edge, like the P208 generator wrench, longways-for and aft-on the painted are of the threashold and then it is about 18.5mm from the top of the trim to the bottom (plane of the painted part of the threashold) of the generator wrench.

Top of the trim meaning the metal part, correct?

For some reason I feel very retentive in asking these questions.

    Thanks for your help!!

I need up close photos of a restored or unmolested 1965/66911 rocker decos. My questions are:

    1. Was there a rubber gasket under the deco?
    2. What shape are the end of the decos (356 style?)
    3. What does the rubbers insert look like?
    4. Ideally, a ruler would be held up to the edges while photos are taken to get the positioning right.

Anybody willing to help? I just took the '68S decos off of my car and was going to install a set of trims, but want to be 100% sure of everything before I start drilling.

    Is this the right one?

The 3456/SC had a 27mm deco I hear is the same:

    Is it?

There's also an early 356A deco, which is much wider at 34mm:

On a side note, how wide is the '67S rocker deco? Get what I am drifting at?

    Thanks!
