    1968 Porsche 911S targa Tangerine orig engine sale pending

    Sold as of 4/25/08 - Check further down on this thread for my restoration update


    1968 Porsche 911S vin# 11850187 original engine, original color 6809 Tangerine

    only 442 made - very low production numbers for this model
    Arizona car
    Fresh correct paint in excellent condition, very straight body
    Engine has big Mahle pistons installed - makes big power
    Needs some things, not perfect yet
    Hard rear window
    Rear wiper

    Being sold through a licensed CA dealership - not a private party

    New note: I just received new information directly from Porsche classic in Germany verifying the car: "Hello Mark, Motor 40180650 is original , color 6809=tangerine , Interior leatherette black with corduroy , delivered 10.Jan.`68 to Petermax Müller, Hannover , options outside temperature gauge, emergency light , colored windows, fixed rear window colored"

    Options include Motor Meter outside temp gauge (its real), Webasto gas heater, above the grille fog lights - missing and no I did not take them, Rear wiper.

    Question VIN S stamp missing?

    So I gather that in 68' the factory did NOT put an S stamped after the number stamped on the cowl below the smugglers box!
    Is this correct?

    Correct. These are coded like the '69 and later cars. I just ran the numbers; this is indeed a bonafide ROW '68S.
