    M&K 2 in - 1 out Muffler on 2.7MFI?

I'm considering an M&K 2 in - 1 out muffler for my 2.7 RS spec 9.8:1 MFI engine with European Racing headers. My motivation is mainly the lighter weight and stainless steel quality, but I'm concerned about the back pressure effect on MFI and louder sound.

I currently use both a recent Dansk 2 in - 1 out regular muffler, as well as occassionally a vintage Leistritz 2 in - 2 out sport muffler from the '70's. The Leistritz sport muffler sound is near the edge of my comfort zone.

Does anyone have experience with the M&K on MFI? Is the recent Gen4 M&K sound level comparable to Leistritz sport mufflers?

Couldn't find a good thread here. This Pelican thread gave some insight, but not really for MFI.

Bob did you end up buying a stainless M&K? Considering one myself.
Anyone with an MFI car have experience with this exhaust?

Any more opinions on the M+K mufflers. I'm also considering one for my 2.7MFI set up. 2 in 1 out.

I've got one on my 2.5MFI. Works quite well. Not subtle sounding. It's fairly quiet when I'm being a good boy, not so much when I'm not. I have yet to dial in the MFI with an LC-1 I've got sitting in the garage. In my case I think that the motor makes more power than with the stock muffler previously fitted. Not very scientific, I know. I have yet to see any conclusive evidence about mufflers, MFI, and power.

Ben (M&K guy) claims that the key to avoiding drone is to stick with one-out. I can't imagine going to two, as one is plenty loud. I think my car sounds great. I'm glad it's not 1 db louder, and wish it was a little quieter.

I run an M&K two in one out on my carbed 3.0. it would be easy enough to tune the MFI to it. I used a colortune to dial in with the stock muffler then changed to this. flows much better than stock. no drone. somewhat subtle at lower engine speeds and part throttle. open it up and you know about it. not too loud for me at all with no engine sound pad. had a bursch previously. this one puts me in mind of a 906 when running hard. VERY light. I'll do a vid/sound tomorrow and do a link to youtube. Don.

    Thanks Scott, Thanks Don.

Don, that would be cool. I'll watch for it.

On the M+K site under the 2 in 1 out unit they say some modification may be required. Were there any challenges fitting it?

I didn't have to modify anything. Perhaps the comment concerns impact bumper cars?

I had a 2 in 1 out M&K on my '68's motor for about 6 months. Sold it and put a stock muff on, too loud if you drive the car a lot.

Putting this in other words, the muffler is a work of art and fits perfectly. At first, it sounds very throaty and cool, especially when you nail the gas. My car definitely felt faster at high RPM's, too. But it is loud!

Of course, everyone's opinion on "loud" can vary, but do a search on Pelican Parts, there are always a lot of M&K's for sale because they are considered "loud"......

Personally, it became very tiresome to me.
