    Powerband of T cams

Quick question - I recently bought a used 69 911 race car. Supposedly motor has stock T internals but PO said he used a 7500 RPM redline. I just drove car and it does pull hard all the way to 7500 RPM. I can't believe it still has T cams in it, any comments. I have owned several T's but have never twisted one that high.

Good question. My T pulls hard to the 6500 mark, and feels like it's got plenty more in it.

I haven't had the nerve to push it any higher though.

    Frank,
Steve W replied to same question on the bird site, he does reccomend revving a T motor like that due to the cast pistons they used.

    Thanks Phil,
My motor was rebuilt by D. Frick at Europa Macchina a few years ago.
He installed domed JE pistons which bumped the compresssion ratio to ???
I think it's got more than the 6500 rpm in it, but I worry about the crank's ability to rev higher than that.
    Cheers!

Crank is fine to about 73-7400 in the 2.4s...same crank in the 2.4 T as the 2.4 S

JEs are forged...good for high rpm race use

It's not that T's don't make power at 6500+ or something--they do--however, you'd have MORE if you shifted into the next gear ..
