    Door Striker plastic inserts

The bottom plastic inserts on my door strikers have given up the ghost.

I can find a striker repair kit at Pelican and Performance. but the tag line indicates the kits are for '65 - '69.

My car is a '72. Will this striker repair kit work? or will I need to purchase new complete strikers

My metal part of my strikers are not worn, but the bottom plastic insert on both sides has became brittle and the drivers side fell out.

    Thanks

Those repair kits for the 65 to 68 strikers won't work on your 72. You will need to buy complete new ones. Most places will sell you the superseded 993 part number pieces. They will physically work, but their shape is somewhat different. Stoddards now has repros of the original style, they work and look correct other than they are gold zinc plated instead of clear zinc. We have used them for several years now. They may not be shown on their electronic site, so you may need to call and order that way.

So, is this "kit" a good option to replace the plastic in the earlier strikers? i.e. '67?

Yes, the kit will work fine on the earlier strikers, but the replacement plastic inserts are black instead of white as the originals were. Why they couldn't use white plastic is beyond me!

Probably for the same reason Stoddard is plating the later striker recievers gold instead of clear.
