    10 000 RPM Tach

    Greetings

I've had this for years, can anyone advise what it might have come out of?

It has a white over-rev "tell-tale" needle, reset from the rear of the instrument, and is date stamped 7.67.

    Cheers

I have seen simmilar ones in 904/906's but maybe a Carrera 6 as the date would be closer....just a guess

    Mechanical

Looks like a mechanical drive with 1:4 gear reduction. Cool piece.

    10k tach

It's always intriguing to hear stories of lost treasure. What circumstances surrounded the acquisition of this tach?

Looks like a chronometric and judging by the date stamp of 67', it could've been used in a 910 which was the year of the 910. SS

I am w/ flunder that it looks to have a mech. drive. Late 356 C's already had elec. tachs. Another detail is that the center button seems to be black while street Porsche's had chrome till the early 70s?

    "9.17" markings......

Thanks for the replies all- and for the pics.

I bought it in the early years of ebay because the green instrument markings reminded me of those in my '65 901.

When I dug it our recently I noticed it's engraved with "9.17 . 79W" on the rear- see the picture.........although 7.67 sounds too early for a 917?

    Thanks again,

    Stewart.
