attaching Window to base of mechanism

I know i did this back in the 80"s when my 76 was my daily driver . My 69T driver side window has popped out of it's base. Do i just glue it . Epoxy or what material do you suggest. Can i do it with window and the raising mechanism still in the car? Any help greatly appreciated.
    thanks

As I recall doing this awhile ago, the window fits in the metal channel with a thin layer of rubber on each side to provide a friction fit. Metal and glass don't like each other, thus the intermediate material. There has to be enough friction to hold these parts together because the regulator pushes the window glass upward and allows (and slightly encourages) it to slide down the window channel. Perhaps apply some non-permanent gasket sealer to help hold the two parts together. Don't make this connection difficult to separate in case of future window replacement or regulator removal from the door shell.

You may need a new channel. They get rusty and weak. They are readily available from Porsche, and not too expensive, last time I bought one. You shouldn't need to glue it.

    NO STICKY STUFF!!!

New channel + new rubber = no problem.

All of the above is true, but in order to do that you'll need to remove the window and channel from the door, then you'll have to stand the window on a soft surface upside down, and then gently with a dead blow mallet, tap the channel onto the bottom of the door glass, and the channel will have to be a particular distance from the edge of the window. That distance is spelled out in the shop manual, or if yours isn't all the way off yet just measure what it is.
