Bare Metal ST, ID These Holes?

This is the '72 ST #911 230 0495 after it has been plastic blasted. After the paint was removed we found several small holes that had been drilled in some of the body panels. Here are some of the more peculiar holes that we found. The holes above the headlight on top of the front fenders? Small holes drilled around the engine compartment at the base of the rear window and along the sides of the engine compartment opening? Any ideas why these are here?

    Matt,

I'll venture a guess that the holes on the top of the fender are for an 'outboard' mirror. I'd say the hole above the headlight bucket is probably for a headlight grill. The holes above the the horn grill looks like they were for driving lights. I have no idea about the holes in the rear shock bulkhead by the engine....

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

Could the rear holes be for CD box mounting or Coils?
    Example?

I'd say the holes above the headlight bucket are probably to keep with clamps the headlights in position...

In addition to CD/Coil mounting could the engine bay have also received a plumbed in fire extinguisher system at some stage in the cars life??

I just noticed, it looks like in the horn grill area there is a air deflector; to direct the air over the battery box?

    What about these 3 holes...

Also, what was the gain regarding putting the deflector in the horn grill area?? Did it move the air over the battery box or back into the trunk area??

    Holes

I don't know why the air deflectors are in the horn grill. Their is evidence that the car had the right and left fender mount oil coolers.

The Cibie holes were a pleasant suprise. I just found an NOS pair from a board member. Thank you Jean-Luc.

Any speculation about the little holes around the outside of the engine compartment? They are not big enough to support any large bracket like for a spare tire. Someone mentioned a rain diverter of some sort to keep rain off the engine. Any picutures of this type of rain diveter would be helpful.

I also have 60+ pictures of most of the car, with the exception of bottom as it was sitting on a platform when I went to view it. If there are any specific requests I probably have a picture of it. How about reinforced windshield A-pillar bottoms? Very strange.

I will be away from my computer for a couple day but can post when I return.

Nice picture, Raj. I've never seen the CDs and coils mounted as such. Good ideas are brewing...

On a different note, those silver coils freak me out ...
