    Zachary Taylor

I believe that one of our board members purchased a real '67 427 SC Cobra from Zach Taylor back in the late '70s.

The SC had around around 2,000 miles on it but the side oiler had a spun bearing and the car had been sitting for many years.

    Thumbs up

    WOW, thanks Curt

    Looking at your link,

The only thing I NOW remember about that whole deal is the go-kart that I think was featured in a Road & Track or Hot Rod of the time....

I think I remember a picture in the article that showed the starting line tire marks left by the kart that seemed to bow out then in again as witness to it's little chassis flexing against the HIT!!!!.....

... teenage runs the whole mix of very sharp to very fuzzy memories...
However, THIS proves that CRAZY then, can still be CRAZY now....

    Cheers

Hmmm. Thinking of the potato in the exhaust pipe trick. Never mind. Wouldn't work.

    Any performance or flight data?

That is just nuts! Man, what a beautifully lethal looking car.
I have a mental image of Zachary making an 8 second pass while talking on the ham radio.

    Curt,

    Another great find.

Seems more a comentary on our society, kind of explaines why the U.S. lost its lead, we stopped taking risks. Nanny State be DAMNED.

In doing some digging on the Turbonique company, I found something about the 65 Chevelle 396. The first time it ran, he got it off the line and then 'lit the candle' .... the motor immediately blew and he coasted thru the traps with an 11-second run

    Found this too: http://www.the-rocketman.com/turbonique.html
