Who recurves distributors and what does it cost?

Need to have a T distributor recurved for an rs spec motor. Anyone have a source on who to send it to? Thanks

Henry Schmidt - owns Supertech in Fallbrook, CA. I had him convert a 2.4 dizzy into a mechanical advance with an S curve. It cost ~$250 if I recall correctly. Dam good work. You should be able to find address and phone # on the engine rebuild forum at Pelican.

There are others out there who I have heard about that do great work, I just haven't done any business with them.

I have had a couple of iron cast 356 and early 911 distributors rebuild by both Don Marks and Afterwerke/ Ab Tiedeman. Don might only do 356, Ab does them both. Both use a SUN distributor to set the proper curve. Ab has left w/ me a very knowledgeable impression. He contacts BOSCH for information if it's a not known distributor to him. Don is something like $325+, AB $150 for labor + parts

Both guys can be found on the 356registry website.

When I bought the 3 liter engine to complete my '70 hotrod, I took the worn stock distributor to Jerry Woods Enterprises in Campbell, CA (near San Jose). Since I'm using carbs the distributor no longer required a vacuum advance. Jerry recurved it for centrifugal only, completely rebuilt the unit and it looked as new when I got it back.

    Time: 2 weeks
    Price: $325.00

Car runs flawlessly. Very Happy with the work. If and when you decide to go with J. Woods, call Rich Walton, Smart Racing -Tel: 408. 369. 9997

I had my distributor recurved by Ed Fall at Vintagewerks in Sandy, Utah (www.vintagewerks.com). He's a one-person shop and his business is just distributor rebuilding/recurving and fuel pump rebuilding. He did a great job and was prompt and helpful. He sent the distributor back with the advance curve plot, which is something you want to get regardless of who does it.

The total price was $160 which included some replacement parts (!). In talking with Jerry Woods it seemed that it would be at least double and probably triple that at his shop.
