Early 67S with what looks like a early 67S engine case. Likely matching numbers, but why 2,2 liters? Have the engine been rebuilt with larger cyl/pist? Looks like a great car!!

It's 99.9% likely a matching number car based on the numbers and comparing to the Registry list.

2.2 bump was a pretty common conversion to do when needing a rebuild years back.

    Nice car!

Not on my radar, will likely go to Europe...

If I am reading the ad correctly, the car hasnt been "run" in 20 years. There is no telling what demons you will find when trying to sort this car out mechanically. I know the 67S sunroof coupes are rare but 85K???? Coppola's only went for 60k and it was essentially the same car.

    Jason,

I hear you, but I respectfully disagree.

I do not remember all the details but the Coppolla car was re-painted in the non-original color and also had metal work. Had 100,000+ miles and was a many owner car. Don't get me wrong I loved that car. On this car, IMO you are paying for the originality. Given the over $100,000 for the red 67 softie and 85 for the non-matching numbers softie, I think the asking price is fair.

    +1 on Luke's reply.

I also liked the Coppola car, and thought Tom did a great job with it... but it's a different car than this one. I thought the Coppola car was fairly priced at the time, and perhaps a little under right now, and I think this car is correct at the price it's at.... given what I know about both cars and the current market we are talking about.

I've seen the car. It was last registered in 1980, and I was told that is when it was 'parked.' The engine was rebuilt before the car was 'retired' but there is no paperwork to document it. It was also painted once. It is a very original, very straight, very dry, perfect undercarriage car. The mileage would almost have to be original, albiet no supporting paperwork. Is it worth $89K?
That's a question that only the check writer can answer. I felt that it would take a quiet a bit of sorting out to get back on the road and $89k is a little rich IMHO. To each their own...

    Thanks guys!!

    Luke and Eric-

I also hear your points and agree they are valid. I agree that the Coppola car was undervalued, perhaps by 10k or more. I know we disagree slightly on valuation of this car, but I am very interested to see what this one sells for.

Man, I love this board when we all play nice!!!!

You didn't get the flaming PM I sent you about your lack of 67S car knowledge and lack of skills to adequately critique a car newbie?
