    Advice for setting timing...

Have a rebuilt distributor in the car and need to set timing.

    Motor is 2.4 w/ 2.2S pistons and webers w/ s cams SUPPOSEDLY.

Where should i be setting the timing as a starting point so i can get the carbs tuned?

    Thanks,

    Erik

It depends on the advance settings in the distributor. For your engine, you'll want a total of not more than 30-35º advance @ 6000 rpm including the initial static timing. If your distributor is not an S distributor, it'll have more conservative advance characteristics with an assumption initial timing is retarded (ATDC) instead of advanced (BTDC).

What distributor do you have, and if rebuilt/recurved, what are the specs?
