    Need help I.D.ing this piston

Ok, so this is a real needle in a haystack.

I have FIVE 89mm Mahle pistons. Initially, I thought that they were Euro RS pistons, but they are not.
If you notice, the valve pockets seem to be deeper and the crown higher than a 2.7 RS Euro piston. I suspect that they are the Mahle 2.5 short stroke competition pistons as uses in the GTU class back in the 80's.

Can anyone confirm this for sure and even better, does anyone have a stray piston that they would sell?

RS pistons are 90mm, so it is deffinitely for a 2.5. Short stroke 2.5s appeared in 71 or so? It could predate IMSA.

Ah yes, you are right. So these do me no good since I would need the 89mm cylinders too.

    Dave,

Nice find. I would still hold on to them. you would always send one of them to Ross or JE and have them make you custom copies (Should be less then 1K?). Then get some LN engineering cylinders to go with'em.

PM me if you want copies; my summer job does alot of business with Ross; I could poke around for ya. Might want to check on Rings too.
