    Mounting '67 Deco Trim

I received my set of NOS S style deco trim for my '67 today (thanks John & Eric!). Now a couple of questions on mounting them.

A friend who lives nearby has a *pristine* Emory restored '67 S Coupe and I stopped by his house today to measure where they are mounted. It looks like the set-back from the rear of the front fender to the center of the front of the trim is 16mm and from the bottom of the door opening to the top of the trim is 13mm. Does that sound right?

Also, there appears to be no rubber between the trim and the body of the car, which seems odd -- is that correct?

I have a picture of the squared off rubber insert ends and that looks like a little challenge.

Looking forward to mounting them. I've tried normal thin trim, no trim, PORSCHE script and in my opinion the S trim looks best *by far*.

Thanks for your help and input.

    Cheers,
    JohnA

    Side deco placement

Mine are 2" even from the front and 1/2" below the lip of the door opening.

John, Emory's did a nice job on that car, but when I saw it at the campout last summer the deco was not mounted correctly. As I remember it was too far forward. Here is a photo of deco on an original paint car (the torsion cover gasket has imbedded wax on it, not overspray). This is the same position I've seen it on cars I've been in contact with. Sacto's measurements sound correct.

There is no rubber behind the strips. The ones I have taken off had only clear plastic between the body and the deco.

Thanks for the input. You've saved me from drilling a bunch of holes in the wrong places.

One more question -- what type of plastic is between the trim and body?

    Cheers,

    No plastic

The front and rear decos have the rubber "seal" between the metal portion of the deco and the body. the side decos, to the best of my knowledge, have no "seal" or plastic. I did find a thin clear plasitc film behind mind when I removed them for painting. No one seemed toidentify this as a factory application so I am assuming it was part of a later intrusion.

The clear plastic Sacto makes reference to sounds like the same stuff I observed. It was thick clear plastic. They didn't look like they had been off before.
