    Stone or slate grey?

Is stone grey the same as slate grey? I knew that this car was 6601, Schiebergrau in German.

    BTW congratulations on the purchase.

pretty sure it is slate gray. Looked it up in both the Glasurit site and the 912 site. I've never seen stone gray on a 911, although it is really beautiful on 356's. Stone gray is a little greener than gray beige, the 911 color (Lars + Karl both have cars gray beige - beautiful). On the 66, the area we scraped was definitely slate gray - I think the same color as Eade's 67S.

    raj,

I am fairly certain that the 66 I bought is definitely 6601 - slate gray. The color of the car on the post (at least on my monitor) is bluer than the stone gray I know from 356s. All are lovely colors. The interiors of the 66 is black, all original, including the shift boot integral to the rubber floor mat. Do I remember correctly that Steve McQueen's 911 was slate gray / black?

I haven't seen it yet. I'll be in California next weekend and see it then. Thje plan is to return it to original color, preserve interior + keep everything as original as possible and reasonable. All panels are original, all glass except replacement windshield is original. At this point, only changes we can decipher are Webers having replaced Solexes and the p.o.'s color change. Both of which are reversible. I'll try to figure out how to post photos - never done it.

Steven I considered your new car a couple of weeks ago. Schiebergrau is one of my favorite 60 colors and if it had been delivered w/ a red interior I might had decided different.

Your car was completed early May 1966 and your engine serial is 90767X. This engine is supposed to run on Webers. Are there currently Solex 40 on?

Richard is correct: May '66 is too late for Solexes, so if on Webers, you are good to go.
