Is indeed an amazing engine. Owned by Jerry Charlup, a terrific PCA guy in Connecticut. Totally obsessive. Only reasone he is selling the motor is because he finally found the correct numbers-matching 4 Cam that came in his Carrera Speedster! Gerry McCarthy, if you don't know him, is one of the all time great 4 cam gurus - trained at the Porsche factory, he is over 75 now and is mostly retired. Jeff Adams, now working at Farnbacher Loles, is his protege who worked with Gerry for many years. Jerry Charlup, Gerry McCarthy and Jeff Adams are all TOTALLY reliable people.

Steven do you know how and where he found the original engine to his car? Sounds like one of those rare finds after searching forever.

I located the engine block for the car several years ago on a website specializing in 4-cam parts (www.spydersports.com).
At that time I couldn't afford just the case. Last year when I decided to buy the case, it was for sale ONLY as an unassembled 4-cam engine kit. We began discussions to acquire it.
This Feb when at the LA Lit meet, I had Jeff and Gerry accompany me and we looked at the kit of parts that I would be buying. I was lucky enough to be able to afford the outrageously priced kit this year.
I had surveyed many experts and the general conclusion was: get the engine if I could.
having a similar 4-cam to sell makes it a more sound financial decision than if I had to buy the engine out right. As I've told my wife " it's just a cash flow timing issue!"
I hope not to sell the existing 4-cam as it is surely a very good investment just as my Speedster is!

And I'm sure your wife sees Tiffany diamonds as an equally sound investment. By the way, what's the exchange rate of diamonds to 4-cam motors these days?Originally Posted by a57356
Congratulations on the acquisition and best of luck with the deal.

Warren has never been shy about his prices.... Glad to hear you got your 4-cam. Did you get all the parts you need? I know a few people off the radar with potential items for trade.Originally Posted by a57356
