KBA means 'Kraftfahrtbundesamt'. The KBA number shows that the seat is legaly approved and tested. This is mandatory in Germany for certain car parts like seats, wheels etc. for safety reasons. It is very likely that this is an aftermarket seat. The KBA number is not a Recaro number.

is there a Recaro part number somewhere ?

If you can post a close up picture of the label I can maybe identify something more. Recaro still produces so many different seats for almost any German and international car manufacturer plus aftermarket seats, it is hard to tell...

But you may be able to trace the history of this type of seat by the KBA number here in Germany somehow.

A friend of mine just bought a set of these and he is wondering if anyone knows more about them. The tag states they are Recaro 90008 and has the date 30 MAR 73 on it.

Very comfortable and fit right in to a 356C.
