Oil pressure gauge "pegging" on start up?

Trying to workout some wiring bugs and I cannot understand what is causing my oil pressure gauge to peg to the top when I start the car. Fuel gauge is not reading either.

This novice welcomes all suggestions and ideas!

It's sounds like you might have disconnected the ground wire for those gauges by accident. Which wires were you troubleshooting, where the gauges are or in the engine compartment? It's appears to be a real easy fix though, just recheck the ground wires and try it again.

Let us know what you find.

Nope. It pegs to the top as soon as the car starts.

    +1 on the grounding, then.

My fuel gauge would not work and the oil level gauge would flutter way too much to be normal sloshing in the tank and differences in engine speed.

I found that there was no ground for the oil level sender (must have been overlooked during fiberglass fender conversion). I found a different bolt to the chassis to ground to and put a wire and connector on the sender. Both the fuel and oil level gauges then worked very well.

Make sure to check fuses for corrosion, as always.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the pointers.
