    Article on Collectible Porsches

Jim Schrager has a short article in the newest Excellence that covers 10 Collectible Porsches that have not been "discovered" as yet. The list is kind of a mixed bag, includes 914 2.0, 912 sw Targas, along with 67-68 911 S's (no big news there), and some newer models of 964, 993, speedster.
What is bugging me as I read the article is the total lack of mention of all the 911's A and B series, i.e. LWB 2.0 & 2.2 litre cars from 1969 to 1971. Not only does he not put these in either the "collect now", or the "too late" category, they do not even exist in the context of this article.
Plenty of patter about 2.4 L 911S, Carrera RS, but no mention of all the other fine cars of the era. Am I just an over-sensitive owner, or am I missing something?

Example: I would surely try to save a 2.0 & 2.2 L 911E and 911T car before I would go after a 914, or a 912, restoration costs being almost equal in all cases anymore.

I'm with you on the 1971 911S But I am biased.

I just see it as less competition. Don't tell anyone and it will be our little secret how great these cars are.

    Good points, Raj-
He also has to save a few models to "discover" in the next article
with the same title. No writer will exhaust his DD in one story, if there
is room for a series. I noticed that he "overlooked" the 2.4 E's, also.
They're the sleepers of the long wheelbase cars, in my biased opinion.

Everyone's points are well taken, thanks for sharing. Then if I follow this article, one should be looking for a nice 959 to restore over a 2.2E???

Well they totally screwed up when they classified a US Carrera Cup as a semi stripped 964 and not the same thing as 964 RS. Well if you federalize a 964 RS you end up with equivalent to US cup for more money that is no where near as rare. I sent both Pete and Jim a note. I'll agree that some of the choices baffle me as well, I guess they are trying to make some non-obvious choices.

I would suppose there really should be two lists. One for buy in good shape and maintain cars and another for find a reasonable tub and restore cars.

They would be different lists i think because, as pointed out, restoration costs are similar for various models.

EXCELLENCE continues its piss poor coverage of real world Porsche values.

911SC's in "unique colors." A smart investment.

    959's are valuable? Really?
