    Brake caliper restoration finish

I have a early 1967 911S. I am preparing to have the calipers restored, but despite the good technical information on this board, I cannot get a definite answer on what color/finish the calipers had on them in for a September 1966 build date.

There are great threads on the board describing caliper restoration, and many people who know a lot more than I do. From what I've read the best thing is probably to split the calipers and see what the finish is on the inner surfaces.

Read the resto threads. The bolt head that looks like a Torx isn't, and it's easy to strip.

    Thanks Alan.

I split the calipers and they look like the were once yellow cad (zinc) but I have never seen a 67 with the yellow finish, so I am a bit confused. It's possible that the calipers on my car were already restored some years back, so I was trying to get an idea of what other people have on their cars.

    match the finish you found

That light yellow cad finish was the original. With time it faded to a silver/dirt/brake dust color so match that found color.

They make a spray "anodized" finish paint.

It's not all bad. Cheaper too.

Spray paint that looks like cad. or zinc. I've seen it. Just kind of surprised you would be recommending rattle can to others after seeing your bikes in your link.
