Dumb newbie questions re: wheels and tires for 1971 911T

Will 15 x 7 cookie cutters fit and with what tires?

What are my tire choices with stock 14in fuch alloys? Will 205 70 R14 fit?

Basically what are my options for wheels and tires for a non flared car without rolling the fenders.

A link would be more than adequate.

    Thank you for your patience.

You think you feel dumb, I have been doing searches and come up empty handed - and I know the info is out there. Any one to lend a hand? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller....

Not a "great" answer but I think 7's may be tight given your criteria (non-flared, no rolling)

I had 6's on the back of mine with 205/60-15's and that was fairly tight.

I'm fairly certain 7's are out but, every time I've weighed in on a "what wheel size will fit my...?" thread, someone ALWAYS comes in and says they've done it before.

Ok so two folks who have been around have the same question, I feel less bad.

I am looking for a budget friendly set of wheels I can run 205 performance tires on and just keep the original fuch wheels in storage.

15x5.5 or 15x6 or 16x6 seem ideal but where to find them . . . and more important what offsets work.

    hi all,

I am trying to work through this one myself, what tyres for a good street, sometimes tracked, performance tyre. I have a 1972 911S with the original fuchs 6 x 15.

Brands i am think of with this size 205/65/15

    pirelli p6000
    michelin
    yokohama
    good year
    bridgestone

    Thanks for the feedback

The problem is that individual cars vary slightly in the early days; what will work on mine may not work on yours. 205/60's are highly likely to work on 6" x 15's on your car. They might work on 7 x 15's with the same offset, but it isn't a sure thing. (There are other 7" offsets available which will work, but you said you wanted a budget choice.) Bigger than 205/60? Sometimes possible but unlikely. Do you have non-stock oil lines running thru the back fenderwell? Check clearance carefully on the inside. Going to 16" from 15" again lowers the probability of success just a little. I have a 73 and a 74, both have the stock narrow flare like yours, both cars will accept 205/60's on 7" x 16" wheels. Yours may or may not.
My advice, borrow someone's 7 x 15 or 16 with a tire in your size and swap it onto your car. Check the fit everywhere, then and only then buy something.

15x7 cookie cutters may or may not fit...it varies from car to car. Some cars are ok, some rub.

I have 15x6 cookie cutters on my 71T, with BF Goodrich G Sports in 205/60 with no visible fit issues at stock US ride height. There looks to be plenty of room to handle planned future lowering.

Other owners have reported running 15x7s without issue. YMMV.

I've also seen 16x6 Fuchs on non flared cars. Not sure what the proper tire size is for that.

    I've run both 6 & 7 by 15 wheels on both my 67S & 71E.

I used Yoko ES 100's and BFG Gforce Sport's.

The 205/50/15 on the 7" wheels and 205/60/15 on the 6" wheels.

    I've had no rubbing problems

    Good luck with your search

    Front 195/55-15 Rear-205/60-15 on 15x6 Fuchs--Dropped...........

My next move is to go with 205/60-15's all the way around. The size looks alot better when it fills up the whole fender well.

195/65 15's on 6's. Fills the void nicely and approximates the diameter of the originals. There is such a thing as too low for the street.
