    Short shift kits

    Hi
    I have a 1970 911E which I race in UK HSCC series.
I would like to fit a short shift kit but have heard good and bad things about both the Weltmeister and Porsche kits.
I assume they both work on the same principle of spacing.
Does anybody have a difinitve view on the subject please?

I would just like to be able to make more cleaner changes with a shorter throw.
    thanks

I would suggest the factory short shifter or one of the aftermarket shifters. The WM provides too much throw reduction which increases shifting effort. The shorter throws also puts more stress on the synchro assemblies (as does racing), but you do have a maintenance budget, yes?

Unfortunately yes, I do have a budget, as always with racing the money pit seems to get deeper and deeper!

I think I'm looking for a more accurate shift than length of throw and if the factory one would handle that then that's the way to go I reckon.

I have looked at your gate system and it gets rave reviws and looks just the thing I would want but as I race in the Historic series the regulations are quite strict on modifications. I would be allowed just to 'space' the shift lever though.

Thanks very much for your input.

Then I would assume you need to stay with the factory 901 shift lever housing. Sorry. I can't provide any input as to the effectiveness of any short shift modifications for these shifters.
