It is NOT an S. Just a normale 911 sporto. Check the chassis number.
Nice looking car though.
Correct...
11= Typ 911
8= Modell 68
0= S Coupe
1= L Coupe
2= T Coupe
3= Coupe
5= S Targa
6 = L Targa
7 = T Targa
8= Targa
fortlaufende Nummer 4-stellig,
falls beginnend mit "5", dann eine von Karmann prod. Karosserie
Thus,
11835218 = 1968 911 Normale (#218 built by Karmann)

I'm late to the party, but I looked it up last night, definitely not an S. But it does have the original V6 engine...

I keep a copy of Zimmerman's "The Used 911 Story" by the keyboard. It has a great section on decoding the various versions of 911 VINs and engine numbers. (Schraeger's book might have similar info, not sure.)Originally Posted by Macroni

a quick way to verify vin numbers is here :

That way you can run 7R fuchs up front and early deep 6's in the rear....helps with understeer!Originally Posted by Wilywilly
