    185R14 choices . . . . 1971 911T

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

Thinking about these given the price (and lack of brand name) of the ver-whatever.

Thoughts? I like the look and the C load rating is somewhat interesting and all. Seems to be designed as a VW vanowagon tire.

My other choice are all 195 75 R14. Dunlop 60s or Yoko touring tires. Even thought of buying a set of winter tires just to roll around on until I find some suitable wheels.

Last choice is the sumimoto H rated 205 70 R14. It is really cheap and probably the best for handling, but I am worried about it fitting in the wheelwell and appearance.

Shopped for some 15in or 16in x6in wheels but looks like the price will be not worth the gain, maybe I can find some cookies but I am not so sure the situation is much better in 15x6 tire sizes.

    Best,

    Rn

Before I found my steelies, I used the original 14s on my 69'. I had to replace the tyre about 3 years ago and found a 185/80x14 michilen XM1, with a T rating. I am in Australia, but im sure they are available elsewhere. I just did a search, and they are currently available. The sidewall is as close to original height as you will get (still have original spare).
    I hope this helps.

    Hi Matt

Its a bit off topic but i too live in Sydney and have 1972 911S, I was wondering where did you give your tires, and what options did you look at ?
    I have the standard 6 x 15 inch wheels.

    Thanks for the feedback

FWIW, I currently run 205/55-15's (Yoko ES-100) on my '73 with 15x6 cookies. Prior to this, I ran 205/60-15's (Toyo H4's).

My car is lowered and I had a slight rubbing issues with the 60 series tires. My rear ride height set to 23 1/2" ground to lip and my front ride height is 24". This is very low.

With the 55 series tire, my speedo reads low and my odo reads high. With the 60 series, they were about right.

Shipard, nice to hear from another Sydney-sider.
Im currently running 6 and 7 inch x15 steelies. These use a different offset than your 15x6 Fuch's, therefore I can go a bit wider on the rear (215 or 225).
For use on your 15x6 Fuchs, a 205/60 x15 is a good choice, along with 195/65, or a classic Michelin 185/70. If you want to do track days...thats a different matter.
The best place for tyres in Sydney imo is, Spinning Wheels, in Alexandria. These guys look after a lot of classics and classic rally cars etc, and always carry a wide selection.
I hope this helps, Good luck.

I run Vredestein Sprint Classic 185/70-15.

Great period look and less expensive then Michelin's while keeping a classic look. This modern tire has been discussed on this forum before.
If you use your car for track also, it might not be your cake.
