For many of you have learned (unfortunately the hard way), it is really expensive to build a nice RS clone. Yes, there are a bunch of them out there, but most of them are really not that great. This car is a very nice example.

The key with building a good RS is to start with a great car. This car was originally sold new in Southern California which means that it has lived a rust-free life.

This car went through an extensive 2-year restoration and it shows. It is a stunning example and extremely well built. It was taken down to the bare metal and painted its original color in acrylic enamel with hardner. It then went through countless hours of hand color sanding and buffing to bring out its shine. The paint looks great. There are a few rock chips here and there from use, but that’s about it.

The mechanicals are just as nice as the body. Here are the details:

    ENGINE:
6,500 miles on rebuilt engine w/ the following:
Motor based on 1990 964 C2 (3.6 liters) twin plug.

Ok guys, I know this is not a coupe, but everyone who has seen this car is absolutely wowed by the attention to detail. It is an absolute bargain and the owner is letting it go for $35...awsome pride for a true monster of a car.

I think the first serious person who looks at it will buy it!

We did some work on this car about a year ago. It wasn't anything major as it's pretty much a "Needs Nothing" kind of car.

I do, however, remember that this thing was peel-your-face-off fast and a cursory inspection showed it to be fairly well sorted.

This little Targa will make someone VERY happy.

I have been watching this car very carefully over the last few months. It looks like it would be a nice car to tour Europe. That's what I thought anyway. It's just a pity the UK pound has dropped over 20% against the dollar recently. So a price reduction of over 20% since first put up for sale makes no difference to potential UK buyers. I think this one is going to have to stay with you guys. If it had been advertised at $35k three months ago that would have been a different story.

    Regards
    Mike

Yes. I am generally NOT a Targa fan but this one actually looks right and I'm sure it's sweet to drive w/ the top off. The color and paint is excellent.

It's a well done car. Couple of small details that will be sorted but the big stuff is all very good. It's a hell of a lot of car for that money even in this market and economy. I think there was about the selling price just in the motor alone...
    Cheers,

    Steve

It's funny...I tried to tell people how fast the car was, but they never really believed it. And yes, there probably is over $30k into the motor itself...

I was looking hard at this one. Congrats to the new owner. Speaking of fast, have any of you 3.6 conversion guys actually done 0-60 times? I realize that this motor was massaged but I'm wondering about your typical stock 3.6 in a 2350 lbs car. Any ideas on how fast to 60?
