    VERY Early ID help needed

I am not in a place with access to my prehistorical textbooks ... any help with dates would be greatly appreciated.

    Chassis # 304477
    Engine # 900458

I believe it to be a 1966 911 but it may be a late 65 - I can't seem to find any definitive answers. The car has 4-screw grilles, center lube cams and originally came with Solexs. What am I missing?

    Per Peter Morgan's book 'Original Porsche 911' it's a 66 with a 65 engine.

I have no problem with the theory that all men are created equal.
But after that moment you are on your own and nobody owes you a damn thing.

I doubt that the 4 screw grills are original to the VIN mentioned. Now if the VIN appears to be 300447 than it is and it might even be a number matching car ..

I've seen stranger things, but I have to agree that the motor is from an earlier car...and who knows what else then?

    Body - Engine #

The 304477 is about April 1966 body.

    900458 engine is from 22 January 1965.
(if you look below the engine type number the sequence number should be #358. If we talk nice - I could tell you the body it left the factory in)

Let talk - I know someone looking for that period motor.

It would appear to have been built sometime in the April - May, 1966 time frame and probably should have an engine number beginning with "907.....".

For reference, mine is #302981 and was built in November 65 as a 66 model. It does not have the center lube cams, but is a Solex engine. It also has the four hole horn grill mounts on the fenders. My engine number is 903143.
EDIT: Bob types faster than I do

I always talk nice. I sent you a PM.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your help. I'm in the process of doing some digging to find out what I can about the car. I'll update when I know more...
