Switch on Dashboard what is it for?

I have a switch to the right of the steering column below the trip setting knob located on the dash. When the switch is on it has a yellow light at least it looks yellow now and opens a large relay adjacent the fuse boxes but not the typical black round relay. On the relay it is written REF 413 12V.
What is the switch for possibly a gas heater or what?
    This was a european car.

    Thanks for your help.

    switch

I believe that would be for the thru-the-grill lights. Below the bumper fog lights were adjacent to the lighter and the defroster switches

    switch

I just rememberd that you said it had a light. The fog switch in this position did not have a light unless maybe this car was optioned with heater and fog lights. Since the heater most likly has priority, it would most likely take the fog light positio. Maybe the fog light switch was still used, but in the position of the TTG light switch.

    Switch on Dashboard

I have the fog light switch adjacent the cig. lighter; I took the switch partially apart and it has a green indicator light when on. It had fog lights the wiring is all there and I'm installing Hella 169's hooked them up but no lighting and the switch doesn't light up. I changed out one of the black round relays adjacent the fuse boxes supposedly for the fog lights but no help; I will keep investigating. Another issue which I have and part of another post is that my fog lights are not straight & level like photos I've seen of other cars; oh well another issue.
I also have TTG lights which I'm installing; so as you had indicated this switch could be used for these lights?

Thanks for the info and help

    hmm...

Are we saying here that any switch clustered with the defroster and cigarette lighter was ONLY for the below the bumper fogs and not for any TTG application?

I have an unidentified knob/switch (leftmost side) next to the defroster switch, but I was unsure if this is for TTG or BTB...is there any certainty to what it could be for? This is on a '71 by the way...

I have seen pictures of dashboards in early cars with original rear wipers. The switch is in the area you describe, but the relay for the rear wiper is, I thought, in the engine bay next to the rear defroster relay.

    switch

The wiper switch is on the left of the column: see this post

Knob looks like this(thanks to Zithlord):

Make sure you have a good fuse in the right slot for fog lights and also make sure the contacts are clean. Since the car came with BTB lights, I suspect that all wiring is complete.

There are many ways to wire the TTG lights, but the switch my be used if you want to use one. Some people wire it with their high beams. Look at some of the references that helped me in the previous post.

    Dashboard Switch

    Olin,

Yes I also have a rear wiper switch; location as you indicated. I installed a new fuse for the BTB lights but still not working will investigate further.
Thanks again will keep on trying to get the lights to work.

    volt meter

time to get the volt meter and testing for power

You may want to also loosen the wire connection at the fuse panel and clean them up. I would check for voltage first.
