It's the only example of this type of number-plate illumination I've ever seen, and for some reason this detail was deemed sufficiently significant that it is featured on page 176 of the Konradsheim RS "Bible" ( see photo #3 )

The "baseplate" is 2mm thick, clear anodized aluminum, screwed to the top of the door and butts up against the polished trim at the door window. Note: I'd make it thicker, as it vibrates quite badly ). The chrome light is a 2002 BMW license-plate light and is available to this day from BMW ( see photo showing light and box with part number and the price I paid in US $ a year ago for several of these units for my stash ( photo # 2 ). The other, top-mounted amber light is a HELLA item, no longer in production but still available with a little effort......not so rare at all, YET. Please do not be foolish enough to pay $ 275 for a pair per the above link. The first photo below show two NOS lights, ( one laid out in its component parts and the other shown as it would appear installed ) which I purchased at the LA Lit show 3 months ago for under $ 100.00 for both.

I'd love to see someone make and mount these lights on their car to see if they look as cool on a proper longhood as they do on the Loos RSR.
Thank very Much John for all these data. I agree with Jens the alloy piece on Thierry's post is far more elegant en thicker.
Anyhow, I will start to look for pieces of the Hella Amber (Hellatear) to mount on my car, and I am not anymore foolish enough to buy a pair for USD100.

    All the best.

A special part (silver) for my RSR injection pump: a rod to limit the vibrations damages.

Yes, I decided to leave in the "X" fifth. I am going to save the ZD to flip to a Ka and wear noise-reduction headphones instead.

Believe it or not you can carry on a conversation with ear plugs. Many brands sold through industrial suppliers like MSC or McMaster Carr.

Reminds me of my old man's story about the Alaskan Bush Pilots he used to fly with in the late '60s:

"It sure is Windy down there!"
    "No, it's Thursday!"
"You are too, let's get some coffee!"
