I did these on my 914, when I realized the rain hats were starving my 46 Webers. Much improved with more clearance above stacks.

What were the symptoms? How did you you discover it?

That is cool. Do you think they're plexiglass or Lexan? 3/8"? Those are entirely do-able.

Mine were Lexan. They still were prone to cracking around the holes. After several Weber burps they arent as pretty.
The car felt stronger after 5k. It was like jogging, trying to breath through a snorkel. There was an obvious seat of the pants improvement. One of the few times I have made such an easy modification, and got the bonus. It helped.

The more I look at these, the more I like them (strictly from an aesthetic point of view, being able to better show off the beautiful Weber carbs). And just thinking out loud, I really doubt there would be much of a problem with rain. With paper air filters, yes. With oiled-down K&N's, it seems unlikely water would penetrate the filter ....

I am thinking water jet cut tempered glass is the way to go.

As nice as those look, ain't they gonna look like crap after a couple weber pops and farts???? Aesthetically, those are mighty fine looking arrangements but I have my doubts they'll keep that great look for much longer than a trip to the next concours show.

Tempered Glass and Dsuz fasteners would make clean up a breeze.
