    Corner Weights

First try after roughing in the settings by eye. Sp-p-pooky! But, this is how it landed after the full RSR coilover/big brake conversion. Do the math.

Well Curt, I plan to take it apart again to see if I can get it right. I wasn't in the pilot seat, so I shoveled an equivalent pile-o-pooh into the sport seat... you know, for realism.

So, after thou$ands of dollars and hundreds of hours of fitting, fixing, fabbing, and re-inventing this thing, this is what I've got (no apparent difference). The before and after pictures are amazing. Just look. Sheesh, this was a punishing job. Having the weights and the ride height (or as we say in Vermont "height-th") just fall into place is a sign from the invisible spirit world that I should keep pluggin' away at these cars.

C'mon Jens. Put some 67S bumper weights in the nose of that thing and show me a 50/50 split.

Thanks John, it's an old horse to me; my daily ride.

Marco, I'm afraid to put the rubber mats in! Hell, a big lunch will throw the numbers off. It really needs a long hood... I said, "I need a long hood".

Tom, it can be there in 3 days.

    Hi Jens,

Yep, it looks the same to me. But the beauty lies beneath. Have you taken a fun run yet? Please share the differences before and after the big suspension and brakes.

The outside of the car looks nice too

Hey Bert, thanks. I still have some werk left to do on the car. When I do take it up and over the Mountain I'll let you know.

    Thumbs up

Bert, the ride is terrific. I used fairly soft coil springs with 225lbs. up front and 325s in back, sway bars 18 and 20, but the shock valving is fairly aggressive. Body roll is reduced to almost nothing yet the ride is not harsh. It's just planted. I haven't found a cobblestone road surface for the ultimate comfort test yet; I'm guessing it won't be pretty.

The brakes still need more bedding in but they're all there. I used an unboosted 23mm master cylinder, so there's lots of pedal pressure which allows good modulation. The brakes are 993 Twin Turbo units with slotted 2 piece rotors up front and 930 drilled rotors in back. I made all new brake lines and machined my own adapters and shims to get the offsets right. I had to make 1.6mm wheel spacers for the fronts to get clearance to the paint on the big Brembos. There's not enough room to put the Porsche decals back on. I used Chuck Moreland's (Elephant Racing) spring seats. The fronts have the needle thrust bearing top pivot seats that make the steering "right now". The response is immediate and very direct.

Overall, the feeling is just a much more serious version of what was already a pretty well balanced car. Now... more power!
