That's roughly what the speaker opening in my '65 looks like--mine was redone by Auto's International so I can't claim it has to be perfect. The first cars didn't have a separate panel for the speaker.

According to Dr. Jonson's The 911 & 912 Porsche, a Restorer's Guide to Authenticity Blaupunkt New Yorkers were available in the 1966 through 1970 model years.

The September 1965 (1966 model year) accessories price list shows the New Yorker available for DM 690 or US$ 172.50. I posted a scan of it http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=21786 not long ago.

The difference between the Frankfurt and New Yorker seems to be that the New Yorker has a signal-seeking function. If you pushed in on the right hand knob the New Yorker would find a radio station for you.
