    plastic air filter housing

    1) plactic air cleaner assembly used for only a short time ('69-'70 ? can anyone clarify?) the factory went back to metal for what may be obvious reasons. the main body on this one is nice. there are some scratches on the underside of the snout. the breather tube fitting is out of round, but otherwise sound. the metal parts of the snout were lightly media blasted & etch primed. this example would have been for a carburetted car. $100 shipped to the lower 48. elsewhere at additional expense.
    thanks for looking.

    Backwards.

    The plastic housing is for later cars 72-73 US MFI (and Europe until the MFI run was over). The early cars used metal housings. 65-68 SWB and 69-71 LWB.

    They don't wear particularly well if left alone so if you have a nice one it is valuable. (they also don't do well in engine fires).

    all;
    i thought that all MFI cars also have enrichment nozzles in the air cleaner (?). i responded to a WTB ad from someone w/ a '69S & that is what he indicated. anyway... it appears to be headed to the owner of a 914-6.
    thanks

    All,

    Maybe not all but I know for certain that some 71's were delivered with the plastic housings.

    The cars that came equipped with the plastic air filter housing have their enrichment nozzles at the bottom of the stacks not in the housing.

    This change occurred on the 2.4l engines but as with many other things of the era perhaps a few 1971 cars came with them.

    My 914-6 had as steel air cleaner.

    On the road again soon.
