    Oil tank/cooler fittings question

    Simple question.

What are the required fittings and lines needed to fit SC hard lines and oil cooler with a '67 oil tank?

I need to remove an interesting mix of lines which are clearly a CF.

    Thanks, Sumner

Check out the Elephant Racing site. They have lots of parts for this.

    Simple question, complex answer.

Original '67 used a factory fitting in the case with M26 threads to a flexible line to the inlet on the tank.

There is a later hardline that loops under the engine and goes to the tank, same M26x1.5 fittings.

The "late" hardline has an M30 fitting-- the case threads are the same (M22x1.5) but the outboard portion of the fitting is larger. This can be fitted to the early aluminum case, don't forget the crush washer. This hardline goes to the starboard side of the car where it mates up with the factory flex lines forward to the factory thermostat, which then mate to the hardlines to the cooler.

The later cars have an indentation in the wheel well to provide tire clearance for these lines. If you are not using huge tires clearance shouldn't be a problem but you should absolutely check.

The factory thermostat and trombone or Carrera cooler use M30 fittings. You would need a custom hose with an M30 on one end and an M26 on the other to return from thermostat to oil tank.

Chuck Moreland is an expert on this, you should call him for advice and he sells all the parts. He was of invaluable assistance on my race car setup.

So Chuck, what do you do for the 72 forward mount tank with no original cooler?
