'73 Heater Valves - Correct Color?

    Guys,

What is the correct color for the (red) 1973 heater valve assemblies? Also, are they supposed to be shiny or matte in finish?

Ideally, I would like to find an off the shelf spray can color that's close in hue, however I can also mix up paint and spray with my gun.

I just pulled mine recently off my 70. They are more of a brick red and definitely a matte, satin at the most finish.

'73 Heater Valves - Correct Color?

I used Dupli-color red oxide primer and then sprayed a little clear over that to give just a little gloss.

In case it helps, I did our last set for resto in black, but will do the next in red.

Alan, are the original cork gaskets still available or did you use a rubber alternative?

I've been to lazy to check with PNA to date.

    Hi Michael,

These were bought from Porsche and are now a clear plastic version.

    Thanks Alan,

I might just cut my own out of cork, though my originals are in pretty good shape.

Does anyone have the part number for the heater hose shown in Alan.uk's pic? Replacing my entire heater control assembly at the moment and there seems to be very many different versions and colors of hose around.
