    Viele Danke!

I liked the ultimate 917 tribute video, too, as well as the first lap of LeMans 1970. Derek Bell driving a 917K is very cool.

Check out the sliding in the rain at the Brands Hatch race from 1970 in the tribute.

Cool film, but there's a little bit of (typical) Deutsche Welle hyperbole there. The chassis under restoration is clearly stamped 917-024. That's the 1969 langheck car that Jo Siffert rented to Solar Productions, who dressed it out as one of the kurzheck Gulf cars (the "race"-winning #22). Siffert's car was only a roller and he had to borrow an engine and transmission. Quite a nice barn find, but not the car McQueen bought from the factory. That honor belongs to 917-022, currently owned by Jerry Seinfeld.

Shouldn't this be in "Off Topic?"
