    Abarth Muffler For Sale

I have had this Abarth muffler in the garage for a few years and I realize that I am never going to use it. While some people have told me to hold on to it for future value I think it would be best to move the muffler along.

This muffler used to be on my brother's '71 911S until he wanted something a little more quiet and went with a Dansk sport muffler. I have thought about running this muffler on my 911T but I am now selling the car.

With a new coat of high heat paint this muffler would look new, it's built like a tank!

    $800 plus shipping

I calculated shipping via FedEx 2day and it comes out to about $40 to ship from my storage (East Bay SF, CA to Virginia for example) with my discount.

I ran it by M&K a couple of years ago. No response.

FWIW an Abarth is a neat "curiosity" and I intended to hang it on the wall in the garage. They do not make hp, in fact they don't do much of anything but make noise. Nonetheless it's an interesting period piece.

It would be interesting to dyno an Abarth against a stock muffler. I noticed better mid range snap on my '73s, and a friend thought his 2.4E also had a little more power in the mid-range with the Abarths.

My seat 'o the pants dyno lied to me more often than not. What I thought was power was noise. I couldn't turn the noise into power. Shucks.

Tom, I think you need to combine it with a "Type R" sticker. Then you really get HP, up the wazoo HP!

This is a very real 6 pack on the back of our friend John's car at SLO. Sounded bitchin'.

I can report that an Abarth muffler, in my case, certainly did not make power. I replaced mine with a stock muffler on my (at the time) stock 2.2E. I did a measured acceleration run from about 25 mph to about 90 (over a set distance), and was 1.5 seconds faster after installing the stock muffler. It SOUNDED slower, but the watch doesn't lie!
