    Mason/Dixon Rally MidAtlantic

    3rd annual Mason Dixon Rally:

August 30th 9AM-2PM (Yes I know thats Labor day weekend)

The format will be a little different this year. We will be sending cars out individually with very good directions. The purpose of the route will be to provide easy navigation but great driving roads. Your challenge will be in what ever time it takes to look for answers to questions along the way. Of course the questions will be provided upon your departure. Although it wont be required you may want to hookup with a navigator and spotter to make this a more enjoyable and successfull hunt. The journey will end after approximately 2 hours at average speeds. It will end at a secret location that will provide Gobs of parking in a very private location far from view of the street traffic. We will then have a car show with a Peoples Choice award given. We will have a cookout lunch and prizes. More details to follow. There will be a rain date which will be the following Day Sunday August 31st..same time same routine.

This is a well known event in the Porsche Club Mid Atlantic circles as well as the BMW and Ferrari Mid Atlantic circles. As there are probably crossover members I thought I would post it here too. My email is:
turbos7903@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Thanks Jon

    Thanks for asking Nick...
Starting point is the same place as every year. It is the very first exit off I-95 in Maryland just through the Delaware toll booth heading South. The truck stop to the south of the exit houses the Iron Skillet Restaurant. We meet in the parking lot starting at 9AM August 30th. All are welcome but a head count would be helpfull as we are having a cookout and such. Jon

Thanks in advance to Josh and Bob for volunteering to put google maps to work and provide color coded maps for all to follow. Thanks to Bob and Dave Marx for taking me on the run today to confirm the route is appropriate. I have the Twenty questions and your really going to have to keep your eyes wide open for the answers to the roadside questions. As for the route. Bob and Josh have to have put 100 hours of driving and exploring into this route discovery. It is spectacular. Farmland, single lanes, long stretches of rolling heaving country lanes, wooded hillside roads...its got it all. The route took us 2 hours and 30 mins with a brief stop over at Peach bottom/Muddy run park to stretch our legs.Fair warning...this is a route which rewards people who like to drive. If your among the park and picnic crowd you might want to consider your plan. For those of you who love rewarding roads with little traffic and scenery that changes by the mile and dont mind driving 120 miles in 2 1/2 hours then come on down/up to join us for the day. Sportscars are made to be driven.
Johnny Dents has kindly agreed to sponsor ( again) the event by providing some give aways for all in attendance. I am providing the logistics and the destination including the car show and the BBQ basics,Bob and Josh are providing the printed itinerary and John and Barbara Reader are providing the other printing requirements and scoring of the answers. Jerry has provided the prizes for the contests as well as the Best in show award for the after drive car show ( and clean will not be one of the requirements). I will soon start a list of attendees so if you plan to attend and havent spoken up please post and be counted. Thanks to everyone in advance. Jon in Delaware

Sounds like another great run - I've highlighted a couple of items to entice a longhorn or two to come out and enjoy one of the best mid-atlantic runs there is......

I will be providing the Burgers / B.B.Q. Chicken and sodas. I will also provide chips/pretzels. If you would be so kind...if your last name starts with A thru M could you bring a non-dessert dish to share? If your last name starts with N thru Z could you bring a dessert to share. Utensils for serving the dish will be needed as well. I will provide cups and plates. Salt and Pepper. Thanks for your cooperation. I will be at the starting location with a truck to transport your cooler (if you want) your dish to share and anything else you wish to transport to the ending point. Refrigeration is available at the ending location so your cold stuff will stay cold. Thanks a bunch. Jon
