Thread: What case is this?

    What case is this?

What type of crackcase is this? Its not the 69-73 mag case, but could it be pre 68 with those cooling fins or pro 73 alu case? I do not have any number, unnumbered case. I can get the casting numbers of it.

    Thanks
    John

    John,

By the cooling fins could it be an Alu 65-68 case. I don't know whether post 73 mag cases have those fins as well.

No type number, I will try to get the casting number this afternoon. The engine is in a LWB 911S and its very fast.

BTW the fins on the few alu rs cases and the RSR cases and the early 930 cases are different? EDIT, yes I have looked at the pics on the slidevalve site, the cooling fins are different. This must be a 65-68 alu case. I know the mag was introduced half way into 68 production, but have read that the first alu 68 cases had adapted the later chain housings? or is this misstaken for the later chain housings on the mag 68 case?

What are the casting numbers that can tell the difference from 65/66/67/68?

    Thanks so far guys!

    John
