could the coa for a 66 911 be incorrect... be titled as a 66' but actually be a 65'
also the coa states a four speed trans. i thought they came with 5 speeds.
just wondering.

A lot of 65's where registered as 66's in the US, but I do not think this fault usually is found on the COA. That said there are a lot of wrong info on the COA's from the US. Tell us the VIN and we will tell you the approx. build date, production year and model year.

Kevin,
A lot of times folks see the 902/1 trans designation and think it's a 912 box.
Again, the VIN, engine and gearbox numbers tell all, and this is helpful information to add to our rolling database.
1966 911 #304065 Irischgruen
According to the Porsche list the 66 modell 911 starts with #303391.
1966 911 #304065 Irischgruen
66 production starts with 303391, not model year.

I guess it is vague as to the switch or it could have been interim changes. I owned 301515 which was registered as a 66 and I owned 303212 which had 2 hole grilles, spurs on the inner door window frames, but 66 style dash trim. THE list shows 65 Model 911 motors going to 903550 which suggests that the switch was near the latest chassis in a comparable range, 303XXX.
i am looking at 65 303066 but the coa and registartion both say 66 which is it. it should be a 65 and how much does each vary in value.
Sounds like another MY66, PY65 car. If the car had Solexes and 4 hole horn grills, I consider the car in the "65" category and should be priced accordingly. '66 cars should not get much of a discount anyway, if at all. They are all great cars. The earlier cars are just a bit more interesting IMO, though due to the Solexes and other little quirks that make them more akin to the '64 cars (which are actually MY65 cars...confused yet?) than their later brethren.Originally Posted by our911s
