    Car museums in NE coast

I will be visiting North America NE coast, Boston to Halifax to Montreal triangle in the next weeks.

Is there any interesting car museums, circuits, classic Porsche specialists, etc. worth a visit in this area for this petrolhead?

    Thx. Arturo

There's the Owls Head Transportation museum just outside Rockland, Maine. Airplanes and mostly U.S. produced cars. No Porsche's. They do have special programs throughout the year and a car auction coming up this month. In October they have there annual car car show on the airport tarmac with Porsche being one of the featured marques this year.

There is the Larz Anderson museum in Brookline next to Boston, or talk to Alex Finigan the Porsche specialist at Paul Russell & Co. restorations about a possible tour. They are just outside of Boston, Alex can be reached at: alex@paulrussell.com.

The Rolex Vintage race weekend at Lime Rock in Connecticut is the last weekend of August and the Zippo Historic races are the following weekend at Watkins Glen NY. Plenty of Porsches at both events.

Of Course, they are all red.

An eclectic collection of interesting sports cars can be found on Cape Cod in Hyannis Port, MA. A great private collection of over 50 Classic Sports Cars, mostly English with some Japanese and European ones thrown in.
There is at least one car that's not red, seems I recall a BRG Lotus, but all others including a 356 are red.
Located at Simmons Homestead Inn in Hyannis Port, just outside downtown Hyannis which is a nice place to stay as well.

    Their website: http://www.toadhallcars.com/

Be sure to take your camera, good opportunity to get a ton of RED car photos.

Also located on Cape Cod is Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, MA. They have an Auto Museum in addition to nicely manicured gardens and an Art Gallery. The Auto Museum is rather small having a few very nicely restored cars. At one time I believe they had a Deusenburg Model SJ on display. Saturday September 20th is Corvette day, expect to see over 100 Corvettes (weather permitting). Hours April 1 to October 31, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m.

    For directions their website: http://www.heritagemuseumsandgardens.org/

    Enjoy your tour,

    There a guy in NH - 356's

Rainer Cooney of Meister Restorations in Alton, New Hampshire

He's got a very good reputation - i think you'd get to see a 550 there as well as the Speedster with the chassis number 1 less than mine. He drove the car across the states for the 50th Speedster event - that was a fantastic event - I chickened out and had mine 'Intercity'd'
    Nick D - Run Flat

    1973 RHD 911 Carrera RS #0358 - Fun Car
2016 Cayenne Diesel - Tow Car

    1976 911 2.7 SOLD
    2006 Cayman S SOLD
    2006 Cayenne S SOLD
    2008 Carrera S F77 SOLD
2011 Cayenne S TOTALLED (T-Boned but kept us safe)
    2015 Macan S SOLD
    2015 GT3 - Track Car
    2016 Cayenne SOLD

    +1

    And don't forget Jerry.
Both are real artists and the pieces and process of that 550 are very interesting.

There was a tornado in the area about a week ago and I hope they weren't hit.

Another interesting North East car museum

There is also the Wells Auto Museum, Route 1, in Wells, Maine. Very close to the Maine Turnpike and well worth a visit (pun intended). A fine collection of unusual vintage cars and bikes. A few very rare autos that most have never heard of, and a beautiful Chrysler C300, first of the letter hemi-cars. There is also a Quasar SR-71, a way ahead of its time sports racer that looks like a miniature McLaren with a Chaparral high wing. Adding to the attraction of the Museum is the Maine Diner a few miles up the road, lobster pie is the local specialty. Hope that you have the opportunity to visit both.

    All best,

    John
