    Fuel Pump

I just purchased a Bosch fuel pump that I want to make sure is for a 72 MFI car.

    The Bosch part number is 0580463005 - 12V 485.

The seller gave the Porsche part number as 0580970001. He stated that it was a PORSCHE BOSCH NEW GENUINE FUEL PUMP FUEL INJECTION ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP for 911E ,911S ,911T.
    PORSCHE NUMBER 901 608 105 00.

Later I found this: This is a made in Germany BOSCH electric fuel pump P/N 0580463005 picked up at a VW Porsche garage liquidation. It is the OEM D & L-Jetronic Fuel Injection pump for the 69-73 Porsche 911E, & 911S, 72-74 Porsche 914, 70 & 71 Porsche 914 4, and the similiarly equipped VW type 3 & type 4 models, i.e Squarebacks, fastbacks, 411s, 412s.

Did I really purchase the correct pump or did I purchase a pump for a D & L- Jetronic fuel injection ?

Here's some links to Bosch documents on the fuel pumps in question

    0 580 970 001

    0 580 463 005

Sorry to say it appears that the pump is a D-Jet from a VW. That said, I can't advise you if it would work with MFI or not - maybe others here can guide you on this

You need the 0580970001/901.608.105.00. I belive this pump was also used on the Alfa Montreal V8. It has an operating pressure of 1 bar and relif valve at 2 bars.

I do not think you can use your pump with the MFI.

Thanks to all that replied. I am sending back the incorrect pump and they will replace it with the correct one.
