    A couple pictures from Carmel

'66 by Leon Kreger was amazing as was the '67 912 presented by John Summer. The '67 911 normal by Tom Martenot rounded out a nice set of award winners.

It was quite an experience for me. I am new to the concours set and had previously only shown at PCA events. The standards are much different at an event like this compared to those used in PCA.

The people who put on the "Concours on the Avenue" did a wonderful job, first class all the way. A great venue, friendly people, wonderful awards, and much more. If you have never participated in an event of this type, I encourage you to give it a shot. I learned a lot about my car (lots to work on) and met some great people too. I had the pleasure of meeting Skip from Carmel, Joe Hartman, Paul Risinger, Mark Smedley and John Straub. Everyone was more than willing to help and had so much experience! It was great.

The Carmel Concours on the Avenue is rapidly becoming a premier event during auto week in Monterey. Just in its second year, but the venue, quality of cars and event organization make the event very impressive and special. The event focuses on preservation and originality. In my category (69-73), a couple of low mileage T's from SLO captured first (black '72) and second (blue '70). I got third (silver '72).. Definitely on the calendar for next year. Here are some early 911 pics. It was great to see and meet a lot of S Registry and R Gruppe folks.

Same set of cars next year?

Will they be looking for the same marque and period next year? Do I have to sit out a year? As you can tell, I'm already thinking about how I can get my car ready for a return trip to Carmel. It was great.

I'm not sure what marques will be featured next year, but I understand that judged cars must sit out a year. IMO it will be hard to top this year's format, but I'm sure that the organizers have some good options up their sleeve. I would plan to go as display or just as a spectator -- or bring a new entry! Fun two day event!

I was lucky enough to to asked to be a judge for the Porsche cars this year...and I have to say, the Porsches that entered were fantastic!

This was really a two day "Class Act"...what was reall cool, it was car shows, for car enthusiast!
