    Rs #0013

    Hi

I am new here and this is my first post although I have been following the fascinating thread on the factory 73 RSR race cars for some time.

I recently raed a post concerning RS #0013 which included photots of the car being restored and now I cannot find it. I am pretty sure it was on this site.

Can anyone lead me to this thread?
    Cheers

    Paul

    Hi Paul

    Welcome to this board
I am glad you sorted out your ability to post on the board.
As you are no doubt aware this is a fantastic resource for everything concerned with early 911's (and 912's)

you should post a couple of pictures of your RS in the show your ride thread - especially if you have some of the restoration shots handy

Thanks Raj. I can make out, from the pics, that it was found in Wales, and that when it was first found, "it was almost impossible to guess that it was so rare. Patience and perseverance were necessary to bring it back to life", or something like that, which means that it was not first apparent that it was an early RS and was the subject of an extensive resto.

    from your link
    "French magazine Flat6 published a story of a restored 72 2.7litre RS.
Production number 13 (9113600013) was produced in may 72, with 2.4 body (including oil flap), 2.7 motor, no ducktail but large rear fenders. According to the magazine text, production numbers 11-13 (produced in april/may 72) served as development cars, the "real" 73RS started with number 20/21.
Number 1-10 served as 2.4l protoypes with 2.7l motors.
Number 13 served as a testing mule in Weissach and was later bought by its own engineer, since restored in 2001.
Car had special color "acrylic diamond purple-blue" and can be seen on a period 72 factory photo in front of Solitude castle, Stuttgart. (page 122 in "Gruber-Konradsheim" book).
Its blue color did hold only on metal and car was later resprayed. Oil flap is present but non functional and therefore fictional."

As restored (in the French magazine pictures) it has the wrong front fogs. It would almost certainly originally have had 72 light surrounds and grilles too (not black).

I have the above french article mentioned.
I recall the front fogs are factory correct mounted according to the german owner.
They needed to be mounted in this way because of front spoiler.
I have another recent article from Germany. will re scan&complete translation if one wants.

RS 13 is seen here. (Top car on line up.)

Thanks for the summary Karl! What a great story about a very important car.

Mike, the fogs are correct fogs that came with cars with driving lights in the grills, then the fogs where placed under the bumper on cars with s-bumpers. Look at the pictures.

Fogs on #0013 were originally rectangular, white, below the bumper fogs.
