Factory install of TTG lights w/cut black plastic grills in '73?

From a previous discussion on TTG lights here
the question of TTG and Black Plastic Grills in 1973 came up.
John reckoned that Porsche supplied chrome grills while dealer installed were black plastic.

Michael was of the same opinion.

Phil Ulrich has chrome grills on his 73, they were on the COA, and his car was a later in the 73 model year.

So, I can presume that Porsche did not supply black plastic cut grills for the TTG lights that were factory installed, and instead they used the cut chrome grills?

Chrome grills were the norm on the 73 S. I used my chrome grills as templates for the (I can hear the gasp coming ) black plastic ones I replaced them with. Since the 73 has black trim, I felt the look would be more consistent with black grills.

The chrome ones do fetch good prices on evil-bay, but mine are staying with the car.

Thanks Rick. Somehow with John, Michael, Phil, and others, it would seem pretty definitive that cut chrome grills came from factory. I am cutting the black plastic, as i echo your sentiments. Thanks for all the info guys.

Well it's funny when my car was restored they used the chrome (non cut out type) since the original ones were chrome. But since my car is black the chrome looks pretty good. I need to get fog lights restored than I will out them back on car.
