Fresh air cowling grill: flat black or aluminum

I'm wondering about the proper color of the cowling fresh air grill frame. I've seen the aluminum frame and the grill screen only painted flat black. Is the aluminum frame supposed to be aluminum and the grill screen flat black?

Are the four small screws that hold both frame and grill in place to the cowling supposed to be chrome or flat black?

    Thanks!

I can't believe that this simple query has stumped everyone on the list. What's the scoop, experts!

    Thanks!

    grill

    i believe both are black.at least that's what's on my 72
to make matters worse, they are not painted but rather
    black anodize.
in a pinch, flat black paint will look fine.

on occasions like this I like to see the pictures.

    How about a 29k mile silver 1967S:

A very complete restoration of swbsams red 1967S

and Alois Ruf's 300 037 1964 Aga Blue 901 (just to show continuity)

The prototypes are mostly black and white fotos but don't show any reflection in that area, which would mean they are black.

The only cars that look like this area is silver are very old unrestored cars and they look to be faded/bleached out with a silver tone.

    So I would say ...black.

Thanks everyone! I've only seen them black on a SWB but that didn't necessarily make it right. Bob, thanks so much for taking the time to post these lovely pictures. I'll paint them a satin black per Chuck's recommendation.
