take one to china and you will have a perfect copy for $300 and you could sell them world wide. Would Porsche have a problem? Do I care?

China and 'perfect' is a complete contradiction when it comes to manufacturing car parts.

I have an OEM aluminum deck lid I was going to install on my 73 T. What would it be worth?

Danske is making alot of the factory pannels along with their repop stuff. I went to thier website a few months back when I was looking for steel for the 73 car. They have aluimum door skins listed with a part number. They also listed doors, rear deck lids and hoods in steel. If you can put up with the fit issues (same parts that Porsche is selling as thier own). I wonder what it would take to get them to stamp a few out of aluimum? I know that my pockets are not deep enough right now. But as with every thing else I'am sure enough money could get the job done. And somebody could get this job done and put some healthy change in thier pockets. $7000.00 U.S. for a rear cover! Somebody could laugh all the way to the bank. And since they are making the Porsche parts with these same dies, could these not be considered OEM also. The dies are there and a privet company is alway looking for some easy money. I have been keeping this to myself and wondering why nobody else has thought about approching Danske. If somebody else decides to try this could Ya cut me a brake on pricing ?

Back in Jan I got a quote to repair an AL lid or to use it as a guide to fabricate a replacement lid in AL.

The repair cost was $2200 and the cost to make one was $4000. I asked at what quantity the price might come down and was told each would be hand made and so the price would be $4000 for the first and the Nth.

The issue of fit would be specific to each car, they would want to have the car to fit the lid.

These guys are good, they were re-skinning a couple of pre '50 cars when I was at their shop.

If anyone would like to follow up on this I will be glad to put you in contact with them. PM me.

Maybe you ought to put a frame around it, hang it on the wall - and insure it !

You could always send it off to the old Mig (jet) factory in Poland where they hammer out Kirkham Cobra's from alloy sheet
