Mark, I believe this car was originally Yellow. It has VERY low mileage which I would want documented with records from day 1.

I BELIEVE, but am not sure, that this car was floating around Los Angeles about 2 years ago, however I may be mistaken. Brian? Where are you? Help me out here....Wasn't this car at Beverly Hills Classic Cars? Andy Cohen's place? And then it was at Symbolic? And maybe Frank Enea? I don't know if it's the same car, but I THINK it is. Let's see if Brian chimes in....

Hmm the service book pictures show at least 80000km in 1977 so I think to advertise 49,000miles as original mileage is a farce.

The alloy tail has a strange right angle bend in the piece that holds the latch which makes me think it might be a reproduction also.

    Hi Mark and Stacy,

The only thing I recall about this RS was it was previously owned by one of our own, Chuck (Baron). He traded it to Autosport for a GT3RS I believe. You might want to send a PM to him and find out about the history.

    Clyde,

I think from just the one photo we have of the underside of the ducktail, it is probably an original one. Only closer inspection can verify that though. I have seen other latch braces that look like this one after a repair. Most of the AL ducktails have ripped up latch braces unless they are on on a M471 car where there is no latch pin to destroy the brace over time.

Thanks Brian. Good EYE Clyde GOOD EYE!

Mark, you should contact Baron (handle on this board). Find out the history of the car before he owned it, and how long he owned it....Good luck, and patience....

Note also the row of holes on either side of the grille in the metal part of the lid. Looks like drilled-out spot welds... AFAIK not what would be expected on an original aluminum lid.

I hear you Brian and sorry we missed you at Pebble Beach...next year.

I have had a ducktail with latch destruction on that alloy piece but I don't see how repairing it would enable it to finish with a right angle bend not a gentle curve.

In any event your correct, unless we see it in person, probably shouldn't comment on it based on one picture

Happy to comment on the false mileage claims however as its their picture that shoots holes in that story!!!

    Mark, just in case...

    you hadn't seen this one.

    B. Canepa has what appears to a very nice, yellow RS Touring right now.

I am not an RS expert/specialist by any means, but I thought I'd at least point this one out for your benefit.

I'm not affiliated with Bruce, nor do I have any vested interest in any of his cars. That said, he usually has some great looking stuff on hand.

select "Current inventory", and then "collector cars"

    Good luck

    Cheers
